Application of BLS All-Republican Council
"Belarusian TV-2 Must Become National Channel!"

The Belarusian Language Society named after F.Skaryna supports the idea of launching the second TV channel. But we think that this decision will have sense only on condition that BTV-2 is going to be true national unlike BTV-1.
We are passionate believers that a new TV channel must become the promoter of the Belarusian culture and the Belarusian language will be at its legal position. In case someone of a program's participators doesn't know Belarusian the practice of interpreting should become a norm.
We think that the majority of BTV-2 programs should be of educational orientation and represent all layers of the cultural life of Belarus. For making such programs one should draw the powerful potential of the Belarusian intellectuals, who know the history and traditions of Belarus perfectly.
We must put an end to antibelarusian state of public opinion and to unliterary variants like "trasianka"(a mixture of Russian and Belarusian), which is used on BTV-1. So that on a new channel we could hear the real literary Belarusian and the contents of the programs could be of a high intellectual quality.
We are ready to participate and help actively in this noble undertaking.
